Post 15-a busy few weeks

So much has been happening in the past few weeks that there has been little time for anything but taking images of events I have attended.
We went down to a local wood with a model dressed as a Bluebell Queen, visited Dimminsdale woods, went to a fantastic Zoo in Doncaster went to Donington for British Superbikes and finally captured Bishop Libby walking through Derby before being installed as Bishop of Derby.
A hectic few weeks. Here are some of the shots.

This has been  a challenging and enjoyable few weeks but there has been little time for experimentation. I have now acquired some extension rings and plan to experiment with some macro shots ahead of the next Ockbrook Photography Group meeting when we will be photographing insects.
My first tests have at least proved I can get closer to subjects than previously.

Post 14 Back to basics

We have just spent an excellent week in Bridlington. We went back to Flamborough North Landing and RSPB Bempton Cliffs almost every day trying to capture images of sea birds . Our aim was to try and get clear, well focussed images of the many seabirds that we saw. This task was made difficult by the fact they were going too fast or were flying too erratically but I really enjoyed the challenge. Additionally the birds were often too far away for clear images even when using a big lens and close cropping in post production.  To a great extent this was a case of back to basics, hold the camera steady, focus precisely choose the right iso, speed and aperture. I am pleased with the results even though they fall short of perfection. We must go back next year!!

Bempton also had a good display of Red Campions and I was am particularly pleased with this shot.
