Post 19- New Inspiration

Moy and I were lucky enough to visit the Patchings Art Festival earlier this month and attended a presentation by Mary Frances. Mary has developed an impressive portfolio of photographic images taken in the Urban environment around her home. These images illustrate "found landscapes" using the natural skill we all possess to use our imagination to discover new shapes within parts of the original images. These new shapes represent hills, mountains, beaches, skies and many other natural features.
I was so inspired by what I saw and heard that I started to take pictures of rocks, paving slabs, bricks and tiles. I then started rotating and cropping them and was able to discover new landscape features for myself. The hit rate was fairly low but I was soon able to generate a dozen discovered landscapes.
I have been very surprised by the results and have started to find ways of displaying these images to share them with other people.
Here are a few of the images.

I have created a new Facebook page to  showcase the work. I have called it Chris Pareidolia and have invited all my Facebook Friends to visit the page. I am really looking forward to getting peoples reactions to the images and have posed the question.

Because everyones imagination is different I expect that every viewer will see and discover something subtly different in the images. I have deliberately not put titles to the images as I do not want the viewers to see what I see but be free to discover their own visions.

I am thrilled that my own imagination is good enough to discover images and I see this as a sign of my improving visual literacy.
